Top Springtime Activities in the Pocono Mountains
As a large portion of the United States gets bombarded by snowstorms and subzero temperatures, it’s easy to start daydreaming about a springtime family escape to the Pocono Mountains. While we all love snow tubing, ice skating, and alpine skiing, there’s something genuinely special about that first spring vacation – the fresh smell of blooming flowers, the soothing sound of chirping native birds, and the heavenly feeling of paddling through a still lake. Woodloch Resort has been helping families bond through a wide variety of homegrown activities, games, and events since we opened our doors in 1958. We’re one of the only Pennsylvania resorts with a private, sizable lake — home to more springtime memories than we can count.
Top Things to Try in the Poconos This Spring
With dozens of outdoor activities to choose from here in Hawley, PA, you won’t have time to worry about work, and your children definitely won’t have the urge to check their smartphones. We’ve hand-selected four of our favorite springtime activities that aren’t available in the wintertime.
- Golfing – The Country Club at Woodloch Springs is our 18-hole, par-72 championship course, set deep in the Pocono Mountains wilderness. Groups, couples, and families with teenagers flock to our award-winning golf course every spring after daydreaming about putting for birdie ever since the first flake of snow landed in early winter. We provide private lessons, golf instructions, club fitting, and playing lessons for those looking to improve their game.
- Kayaking – Arguably the best way to explore Lake Teedyuskung is by hopping aboard a complimentary kayak. Woodloch Resort has a fleet of kayaks in vibrant hues near the water’s edge. Kayaking is a one or two-person activity, depending on the vessel, but we encourage families to paddle through our serene lake in packs (as seen in the photo above). Many groups trek down to the southern edge of the lake where you’ll discover West Falls Creek.
- The Climbing Wall – One of the most challenging outdoor activities at our family resort is the artificial, 30-foot-tall rock climbing wall. This skinny wall towers into the clear blue sky, standing nearly as high as the surrounding trees. The climbing wall builds strength, teaches perseverance, and is a ton of fun (especially if you reach the peak)!
