Experience Spring Kayaking in the Poconos
Spring has sprung at Woodloch! The snow is starting to melt, the sun is shining longer, and the mild temperature is perfect for outdoor adventures. When the ice on Lake Teedyuskung and the surrounding waterways thaws, we invite you to kick off spring with kayaking in the Poconos. Whether you want a relaxing day on the water or a challenging trip on the Delaware River, Woodloch is a short drive away from some of the best paddling in the Poconos.
Lake Wallenpaupack
Lake Wallenpaupack is the closest paddling destination to Woodloch, about a half an hour drive away. The 5,700-acre lake stretches 13 miles and provides on-site rentals for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. The calm water is ideal for families staying at Woodloch who want a relaxing day on the water.
Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River
The Upper Delaware River is considered one of the most popular paddling destinations in the Northeastern United States. The 73 mile stretch of water along the Pennsylvania and New York border has several access points to start your kayaking adventure in the Poconos.
If you prefer a guide to the river, we recommend signing up for a river trip with Kittatinny. They offer rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and tubing trips for all ages and skill levels. The trips will take you past beautiful scenery as you watch for wildlife like bald eagles, hawks, herons, ducks, and deer.
Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
The Delaware Water Gap offers fantastic kayaking in the Poconos. The water is known for being calm, quiet, and ideal for beginners and families. Rent your kayak, canoe, raft, or tube from Adventure Sports Inc or Edge of the Woods Outfitters.
Edge of the Woods Outfitters offers river trips perfect for families! All children ages 3-12 can raft for half price so that you can save money on your family adventure. Even though the trips are self-guided, they offer several routes four to sixteen miles long. Many people take breaks to swim, fish, or picnic. The adventure is up to you!
